Procyon Labs launches with FLUX.1 AI Image Generation Demo
November 4, 2025
Ever since the benchmarks team started out, we’ve kept ourselves close to the latest advances in technology.
Procyon benchmarks are designed around real-world scenarios, making it easy to compare and predict device performance in the ways they’ll be used most. We develop each benchmark in close collaboration with leading technology organizations, with the technologies used in each test being agreed upon based on relevance to the end user and the ability for them to provide a fair point of comparison across hardware.
However, many Procyon users want to test the very cutting edge of technology, even if it is not supported on all hardware. This is especially true in the rapidly advancing artificial intelligence space.
To meet these needs, we’re launching Procyon Labs. These are tests that demonstrate exciting new technologies that may not yet be supported on all vendor hardware. While tests in Procyon Labs are not benchmarks, they can still provide useful insights into device performance. Even if a technology is showcased as part of a Procyon Labs test, it may still be implemented as part of a Procyon benchmark in the future.
With the launch of Procyon Labs, its first test will be for the FLUX.1 image generation model by Black Forest Labs. This test was developed in partnership with NVIDIA and is based on the Procyon demo they showed at CES 2025. At launch, it will only support NVIDIA hardware, showcasing support for their FP4 and FP8 data types.
Updates to the naming of Procyon AI Image Generation Benchmarks tests.
The way AI models are being implemented now is shifting from using one precision for all data types to optimizing the model with differing precisions based on the use case and requirements.
We're renaming these tests to allow for more flexibility when implementing models using these new approaches.
