UL benchmarks are ready for Windows 11
September 29, 2021
Windows 11 will be released on October 5, 2021.
Benchmarking your PC before and after upgrading to Windows 11 is a great way to check for changes in performance. A significant difference in scores may indicate problems with the update, your system configuration or device drivers. If the scores are similar, it means your PC is performing as expected.
In our testing with pre-release builds of Windows 11, a feature called Virtualization-based Security (VBS) causes performance to drop. VBS is enabled by default after a clean install of Windows 11, but not when upgrading from Windows 10. This means the same system can get different benchmark scores depending on how Windows 11 was installed and whether VBS is enabled or not. We plan to add VBS detection to our benchmarks in a future update to help you compare scores fairly.
Windows 11 benchmarks
All currently supported UL benchmark workloads are expected to be fully compatible with Windows 11.
Some of our benchmark apps will receive minor updates to enable the UI and result files to detect Windows 11 as the operating system. Older versions of our benchmarks may identify Windows 11 as a Windows 10 build, but this is only cosmetic. It will not affect your benchmark score.
UL Procyon
UL Procyon is a new suite of benchmark tests for professional users in enterprise, industry, government and press roles. The UL Procyon Office Productivity Benchmark uses Microsoft Office apps to measure PC performance for office productivity work. The UL Procyon Photo Editing Benchmark and UL Procyon Video Editing Benchmark use popular Adobe applications to test the performance of Windows PCs for creators, enthusiasts and creative professionals. UL Procyon benchmarks are compatible with Windows 11.
Testdriver
Testdriver makes benchmark automation easy for IT managers, systems engineers and architects. With Testdriver, you don't have to be physically present at the PCs you are testing. You can deploy and run benchmarks on any PC in your organization from one central control console. Testdriver handles the remote installation and running of the benchmarks and automatically returns the results to a central database. Testdriver is compatible with Windows 11. This compatibility includes all currently supported benchmark tests.
