Futuremark Partners with Telecommunication Software Test Center of China's Ministry of Information Industry
September 10, 2007
Futuremark becomes the official supplier of testing tools to Telecommunication Software Test Center (TSTC) of China's Ministry of Information Industry
Beijing - September 10, 2007 - Futuremark Corporation, the handheld industry's leading provider of performance analysis software and services announced today a long term cooperative partnership with the Telecommunication Software Test Center of China's Ministry of Information Industry. According to terms within today's announced agreement, Futuremark will provide its full collection of current and in-development handheld testing tools to the TSTC for creation of the first, state sanctioned handheld performance certification testing service. This testing service will improve mobile phone quality in China market.
The Telecommunication Software Test Center (TSTC) of China Academy of Telecommunication Research is the only professional mobile phone testing institution designated by the Ministry of Information Industry. The launch of the testing service demonstrates that the Chinese market pays great attention to the quality of mobiles phones sold in China, and to the determination of established standards designed to improve the quality of mobile phones. Certified devices released into the market will be able to provide end-users with more enjoyable levels of performance as required for next generation multimedia and gaming applications, while mobile vendors will receive more support from carriers and application developers after passing the mobile phone performance testing.
Futuremark Corporation heralds this agreement as both an endorsement of the validity of their handheld benchmarking tools and as a major success in their ongoing China business initiatives. By partnering with the TSTC, Futuremark will be able to leverage licensing their tools to mobile device manufacturers. As part of the long-term intent of the agreement, Futuremark will license the TSTC all current handheld testing tools including 3DMarkMobile ES 1.1, 3DMarkMobile ES 2.0, SimulationMark ES 2.0, VGMark 1.0, SPMarkJava JSR 184 and SPMark for Symbian OS v9, as well as tools which are in either in development today or on Futuremarks forward looking product roadmap.
Futuremark has successfully secured an undisclosed major semiconductor company and BDP member as first licensor of the Content Creation Tool Chain, providing irrefutable evidence of the new tool chain delivering a powerful advantage to the leading vendors in mobile industry.
"We anticipate that this agreement with the MII and TSTC will serve as a corporate milestone for Futuremark, enabling our tools to gain traction in the booming Chinese mobile marketplace, while ensuring that the devices offered to that market will provide better multimedia and gaming performance," said Petri Talala, Futuremark's Vice President of Mobile Business. "The MII has entrusted Futuremark, and this agreement fully endorses our leadership position for mobile device testing. We see a bright future for our Chinese presence."
