BAPCo® Releases MobileMark®2005
The latest version of the premier notebook battery life metric
San Mateo, California May 26th, 2005 The latest version of the premier notebook battery life and performance under battery life metric based on real world applications was released today by BAPCo®. The Business Application Performance Corporation (BAPCo) is a non-profit consortium of leading computer industry publications, independent testing labs, PC hardware manufacturers, semiconductor manufacturers and software publishers.
Recognizing the increasing diversity in the use of notebook computing, BAPCo has delivered two new additional test modules to MobileMark 2005, DVD and Wireless browsing. These new modules are provided in addition to the existing core Office productivity and Reader run modes.
The new DVD module is the first DVD playback battery life test to feature professionally authored, studio quality content which has been provided by BMW®. This content together with the DVD module allows users to evaluate the DVD playback time of a notebook (see white paper for further details).
The new Wireless browsing module allows users to measure web browsing battery life in a wireless environment. This is the first standardized test to measure battery life in a mobile PC under wireless connectivity.
MobileMark 2005 also features a new GUI (Graphical User Interface) and a new pre-run analysis tool to ensure correct system setup and to minimize errors.
BAPCos MobileMark® 2005 builds upon its predecessors utilizing the strongest and broadest development team in PC benchmark history. BAPCos depth of membership represents the breadth of the computing industry and harnesses a consortium of experts.
BAPCo benchmarks are used by PC OEMs, hardware and software developers, IT departments, system integrators, publishers and testing labs as well as Information technologists and computer industry analysts.

- Windows® XP with Service Pack 2, 256 MB RAM (512 MB recommended), DVD drive and 3.0 GB free hard space for installation and an additional 1.0 GB during each run.
