3DMark and PCMark Pricing Cut in Half; Distribution Marks New Records

2 million registered users provided 10 million benchmark results

Saratoga, California USA – September 12, 2003 – Futuremark Corporation, the leading provider of PC performance analysis software and services, announced that over 2 million registered PC users have contributed over 10 million benchmark results through Futuremark’s benchmark tools, providing users worldwide with an unprecedented insight into their PC’s performance and potential bottlenecks.
To further enhance the momentum, Futuremark is slashing the retail prices of its popular professional 3DMark03 and PCMark2002 benchmark suites, to $19.95 each. Said Tero Sarkkinen, Executive Vice President at Futuremark Corporation: "We are responding to customer feedback; the additional features of the professional versions are very useful and valuable to our customers. By lowering our prices, we enable more users to take their benchmarking to a professional level, and at the same time improve our own bottom-line financial results."
3DMark03 has become a hit with millions of PC users worldwide. "In benchmarking, Metcalfe’s law also applies: the usefulness, or utility, of a network equals the square of the number of users. True benchmarking can only be achieved through a critical mass of users. Futuremark succeeded in attracting this critical mass of million of users through our emphasis on ‘community’, support and aggressive pricing", Tero continued.
A significant part of Futuremark’s website at http://www.futuremark.com is devoted to community and support services, including chat, discussion boards and comparison tools that provide educational value and are essential to professionals and gamers who are serious about benchmarking.
3DMark03 sets the standard for easily and objectively measuring and comparing modern PCs and 3D graphics performance. It supports the latest Microsoft® DirectX®9 and contains four mind blowing real-time 3D game tests as well as advanced DirectX®9 feature tests.
